Net Zero-1

Net Zero

TBA

Fully funded workshop delivered by experts in their field from the University of Plymouth.

Workshop Overview
Beginning with an overview of greenhouse gas emissions and their impact, we'll delve into strategies for achieving net zero carbon emissions, considering sectors like energy,
transport, buildings and agriculture, where most emissions come from.
Through case studies, interactive activities and quizzes, learners will gain insights into how to reduce their carbon footprint, introducing the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.

The workshop also introduces the carbon handprint concept, a positive forward-looking
action that can be taken. By the end of the workshop, participants will understand the
importance of transitioning to a net zero economy and the role both individuals and
organisations play in driving this transformation for a sustainable future.

Learning outcomes
At the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
  • Define key terms related to net zero and climate change
  • Articulate why the climate system is changing
  • Understand the nature and impacts of these changes
  • Have an indication of your individual carbon footprint and the major contributing factors
  • Understand the actions that individuals, organisations and governments can take to mitigate climate change.

SkyDive

Sam's Skydive for Mind Mid and North East Essex

Beccles Airfield

On Thursday 15th May Sam will be taking on the challenge of a skydive to raise vital  funds for Mind.

Sam, Relationship Manager at SEATS said " I have always thought about doing a skydive and recently I was approached at work with the opportunity to make this thought a reality. What makes this even more meaningful is the chance to use it as a way to support MIND, a charity that does incredible work for mental health.

Taking this leap isn't just about the thrill, it's about raising awareness and funds for a cause that touches so many lives. With your support, we can help MIND continue their vital work, providing resources, support and hope to those who need it most.

If you would like to support me in this adventure and contribute to MIND, please donate."

MIND - Our mission is to listen to our communities and offer compassionate and inclusive mental health services, resources and practical support to promote wellbeing for everyone. Mid and North East Essex Mind are a local mental health charity affiliated to the national charity Mind. We are financially independent and rely on donations and fundraising to continue our services. Our purpose is to offer hope and support for good mental health, so that no one feels alone.

Feedback from our second workshop with the University of Plymouth - Green Logistics at Ports, Enhancing Environmental Performance in Maritime Logistics

"I was interested in attending as Thurrock Council work closely with the Port of Tilbury.

The content was interesting with deep information about the future of logistics and greening on the industry.

The fringe benefits were even more valuable to me. I have a better insight into the plans of the port and constraints of the port regarding energy production."

Gary Crooks, Economic Development Manager, Thurrock Council

"I attended as I wanted to expand my understanding of logistics in ports when it comes to the environment and also to have the opportunity to talk to other departments that I might not usually speak with.

We had fantastic discussions about the challenges and great successes the port has had around implementing its Net Zero targets ."
