Hydrogen Skills: Is Your Workforce Ready for the Hydrogen Economy?

As hydrogen technologies continue to develop, employers will need people who understand how hydrogen behaves, the risks involved and how to work safely in hydrogen-related environments.

SEATS is currently inviting expressions of interest for a range of Hydrogen Safety training opportunities, from introductory awareness through to advanced Level 4 training for managers and technical professionals.

Training opportunities include:

Level 1 Award in Introduction to Hydrogen Safety Practices
1 day | In person | 2 October 2026
A practical introduction to hydrogen, its applications and the principles of hydrogen safety. Ideal for those who need an awareness of hydrogen but do not work directly with hydrogen systems. OFQUAL-regulated qualification.

Hydrogen Safety Passport (HSP)
1 day | In person | 17 November 2026
Industry-focused safety training for anyone working on, supporting or visiting sites within the growing hydrogen economy. Successful participants receive a Hydrogen Safety e-Passport, valid for three years.

Level 3 Introduction to Hydrogen Safety Practices – Non-Qualification Route
3 days | Online | 8–10 December 2026
The full Level 3 learning content with a simpler assessment of understanding, ideal for those who want the technical knowledge without needing the formal qualification.

Level 3 Award in Introduction to Hydrogen Safety Practices
3 days | In person | 12–14 January 2027
Develop a deeper technical understanding of hydrogen science, behaviour, technologies and safety considerations. Designed for experienced engineers, lecturers and technical specialists. OFQUAL-regulated qualification.

Level 4 Award in Hydrogen Safety Practices
5 days | In person | 1–5 March 2027
Advanced hydrogen safety training covering project delivery, risk management and technical decision-making. Designed for H&S Managers, Project Managers, Senior Consultants and others taking greater responsibility for hydrogen-related activity. OFQUAL-regulated qualification.

Hydrogen Safe E-Modules
Self-paced | Access from October 2026 | Three months to complete
Flexible online learning for those who want to build their understanding of specific hydrogen topics at a time that suits them.
