ASOS, Hobbs, Whistles, Phase Eight… following the high-profile attacks on Marks & Spencer, Co-op and Jaguar Land Rover.
Big brands, significant resources, and yet still vulnerable.
But what about the thousands of smaller businesses that don’t have dedicated cyber security teams or substantial IT budgets?
The consequences of a cyber attack go far beyond a system going down.
According to the Hiscox Cyber Readiness Report:
🔹 67% of organisations experienced more cyber incidents than the previous year.
🔹 47% of businesses affected by cyber attacks struggled to attract new customers.
🔹 43% lost existing customers.
🔹 38% experienced negative publicity.
And perhaps most concerning? The percentage struggling to attract new customers more than doubled from 20% in 2023 to 47% in 2024.
You can restore your systems. Rebuilding customer trust isn’t always so straightforward.
So here’s a question for employers:
When did your employees last receive cyber security training?
Not just the IT team. Everyone.
From recognising phishing emails and protecting customer information to understanding the risks of everyday digital activity, your people have an important role to play.
At SEATS, we help businesses identify skills gaps and find the right training through our network of colleges, universities and independent training providers.
If cyber security isn’t currently on your training agenda, perhaps it’s time it was.
