What’s Coming Next in Leadership Development

My Journey so far with SEATS & What’s Coming Next in Leadership Development

When I joined SEATS earlier this year, I knew I’d stepped into something special.

SEATS has always had a strong reputation for high-quality learning, but what struck me immediately was the genuine passion here for developing people – not just teaching to tick a box.

In just a short time, I’ve been able to bring my own experience, energy and ideas into the mix, and together we’re shaping something modern, practical, and genuinely transformational for the leaders and teams we support across Essex and beyond.

My Time at SEATS So Far (It’s only been 7 weeks, however, time flies when you’re having fun!)

Working with employers, local organisations, and councils has reminded me why I love this work. In every conversation, we are discussing capability gaps that prevent people from doing their jobs well. Attending events & workshops sparks the same question: “How do we help this person, this team, this organisation grow with confidence?

So far, I’ve focused on three big things:

1. Modernising learning experiences

I’m passionate about creating training that reflects how people really learn today: experiential, inclusive, accessible and relevant. This means:

· Clean, modern learning materials

· Scenario-based activities inspired by real workplace challenges

· Multiple learning formats to support different neurodiverse needs

· Practical tools that people can use the very next day

2. Bringing psychology, coaching and behaviour change into everything

Leadership isn’t just skill. It’s mindset, confidence, habits and self-awareness. So I’ve been weaving coaching questions, neuro linguistic programming (NPL) tools, self-inquiry practices and reflective prompts into every course.

Because when leaders think better, they do better.

3. Building programmes that genuinely shift capability

From the early design stages to the final evaluation, I’ve focused on making SEATS training measurable and meaningful – not just “a nice course”.

I was once told, “Training is like chucking mud against a wall, it’s fun while you’re doing it (and learning), but it slowly slides off the wall when you’re back at work

This is where Focus 50 coaching comes in. Making sure training is followed by coaching ensures change happens and people are held accountable for it. We’re building training that changes how people show up, communicate, lead, and engage with employers when they are back in the workplace, equipped with their new skills.

Coaching matters!

What I’ll Be Bringing to the SEATS Action in Leadership Webinar

The upcoming Leadership: Action Hour webinar series is all about equipping leaders with real, usable tools for 2026 – not “just chucking mud at the wall that will slide off and they will forget the next day”.

I’ll be supporting you with tools for your leadership toolbox to take away and implement:

  •  Running meetings that actually work
  • Stopping team burnout early
  •  Holding people accountable without micromanaging
  •  Setting goals for people to actually deliver

The webinars will be interactive, grounded and genuinely useful – not passive listening.

What to Expect from the Practical Leadership Series (PLS)

The PLS is designed as a refreshing alternative to traditional leadership training. It’s modern, human and action-focused.

Here’s what leaders can expect (and don’t expect to sit back with a cup of tea or coffee and just listen to me talk at you for ½ day!)

  • Real-world scenarios from the environments they work in

No generic leadership theory – every activity is based on real challenges coming from local employers, councils and public-facing teams.

  • Tools that build confidence, not just competence

Self-inquiry, coaching questions, emotional triggers, behaviour modelling – the things that turn knowledge into leadership capability.

  • Bite-sized, high-impact learning

Short, powerful sessions that respect busy workloads but still create a deep impact.

  • A safe space to reflect, grow and share

No judgement. No jargon. Just honest, practical development.

  • Focus 50 coaching

Holding you accountable to change. One-to-one coaching sessions following your training to help you implement sustainable change.

Why I’m Excited

Leadership is changing – fast! I’m excited to help people not only keep up but thrive.

My goal at SEATS is simple: To create learning that empowers people to lead with clarity, compassion and confidence, no matter how challenging the environment. A great scenario to remember when coming onto our training is to “Be a lobster”. (If you don’t know how lobsters grow, you will by the end of PLS).

I can’t wait to see the impact the webinars and the PLS will have on the amazing leaders we work with.

Before I go, are you reading as a Leader? If not, why not?!

Leaders never stop learning. There is no point where you’ve mastered everything. Real growth happens in small, consistent habits.

Replace a little doom‑scrolling with just one page of a book (or audio).

And in six months? You definitely won’t say you regret it.

Here’s what I am currently reading (the 9 Types of Difficult People – Nick Robinson): “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” Socrates.
