Leading Performance Improvement

Description

13 April 2027

Half-day, in person at The Hive, London Gateway

When performance isn’t where it needs to be, simply asking people to work harder rarely solves the problem.

Effective leaders need to understand what is getting in the way, why it is happening and what needs to change.

Leading Performance Improvement is a practical half-day workshop designed to help managers identify performance issues, get beneath the symptoms and turn problems into meaningful, sustainable improvements.

Rather than jumping straight to solutions, participants will learn practical approaches for understanding what is really happening, involving their teams and focusing improvement activity where it will make the biggest difference.

What the session will cover

During the workshop, participants will explore how to:

  • recognise performance gaps and identify where improvement is needed
  • distinguish between symptoms and underlying causes
  • ask better questions before jumping to solutions
  • use simple root-cause approaches to understand problems
  • involve team members in identifying and developing improvements
  • challenge inefficient or ineffective ways of working constructively
  • turn problems into clear, manageable actions
  • prioritise improvements according to impact
  • track whether changes are actually making a difference
  • create a culture where improvement becomes part of everyday work

Who is this session for?

This workshop is ideal for team leaders, supervisors, managers and emerging leaders responsible for improving performance, processes or ways of working.

It is particularly valuable for managers dealing with recurring problems, inconsistent performance, operational challenges or teams where the same issues seem to keep coming back.

Stop fixing the same problem twice

When something goes wrong, the pressure is often to fix it quickly and move on.

But if we only deal with the immediate symptom, there is a good chance the problem will return.

Strong leaders create the space to understand why something is happening before deciding what to do about it.

This session will give managers practical tools to move from firefighting to improvement – helping them identify root causes, make better decisions and involve their teams in creating solutions that stick.
